" Circus Sensible are hired for 2 days of circus workshops and shows at our annual WAM Festival. Every year they are our biggest hit, with everyone learning new skills and feeling entertained. They engage really well with the crowd and are a pleasure to work with. We look forward to having you again next year! "

Big Top Day, Bristol
“ We've booked Circus Sensible for a School Summer Fair and they were amazing. The team arrived on time and were very self-sufficient. They performed 3 shows and also ran workshops throughout the day. The feedback from the guests was very positive and you could see a lot of children running around with a big smile. It was a great addition to our offer on the day.”

"I would like to thank both Juan and yourself for a fantastic circus experience at our school. Despite appalling weather, Juan arrived and gave us an awesome demonstration to the school, before engaging in workshops all day. The sessions were well resourced and matched to all children's ability and confidence levels. His instructions and demonstrations made it really easy for everyone to understand and it was great to hear many children shout "Miss, I did it!" Thank you for a great experience, our school wouldn't hesitate to book you in the future and recommend you to other local schools”

“ Thank you so much for attending Thornbury Carnival and doing such a fabulous job. I was so impressed with your professional and efficient setting up initially and then the fabulous afternoon of workshops and shows provided. Everytime I passed the Big Top you had loads of little ones enjoying themselves and at showtime you were packed out! Well done! The weather was definitely not on our side, but we have had amazing feedback from those that came.”

Patience, visitor to Willowbrook Farm
" Dear Willowbrook, thank you for the fabulous festival my family had a brilliant time. I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the archery (the kids especially kept going back) but also the fabulous circus performers and the chance to learn juggling. The guys were funny and gentle and kind. My youngest was enthralled with the reptile handling and also clearly learned lots about animal behaviour. My older daughter and her friend loved the silent disco. Speaking for myself sitting with my children laughing myself silly on the floor of the circus tent was just joyful. I’m a Nurse and it lifted some of the stress of the pandemic that I didn’t even realise I was carrying. Please can you pass it on to them that they made me smile properly for the first time in a long time and that’s what I’ve needed after 18 months working in Palliative care. Thank you " Patience, visitor to willowbrook Farm

The Science of Circus

"Complex tasks such as juggling produce significant changes to the structure of the brain, according to scientists at Oxford University.
In the journal, Nature Neuroscience, the scientists say they saw a 5% increase in white matter - the cabling network of the brain." In brief, learning a new skill such as Juggling can hard wire our brains to work better and faster! Circus skills help develop and improve concentration skills. This is particularly evident in those children with shorter attention spans. When we run Circus skills workshops in schools the teachers are often amazed that one or more children who usually have a problem concentrating are doing better than anyone else in the class! Learning Circus skills also offers great benefits in terms of physical co-ordination and physical fitness. Circus workshops fit very well into the school curriculum under PE and co-ordination development. In fact there are many areas where Circus workshops offer great opportunities for curriculum enrichment.

Circus Skills are fun, for children AND adults!
Activities such as Circus skills have been used with great success as an educational tool, as an aid to learning as well as therapeutically with children at risk and with children with special needs. Autistic children have been observed to respond particularly well to Circus skills in schools. Circus skills are an opportunity for children and adults to discover and develop skills such as Concentration, Information retention, Concept visualisation, hand eye co-ordination and self awareness. These skills can then be used in many other settings including social situations and in conventional educational settings whilst learning the core subjects.
