" I just wanted to say a huge thank-you to Circus Sensible and particularly Gary, our entertainer, for keeping the children amused all afternoon from 2pm to 5pm at our cold and windy Platinum Jubilee village picnic in Shelley! He was brilliant – and allowed any number of children to join each of his workshops – and he kept up the pace and the banter all afternoon! The event was a great success for those that braved the weather – and it was all down to Gary who turned the afternoon into pure sunshine! Please pass on our grateful thanks to him, and to your company for seamless booking and support! We wouldn’t hesitate to book you again! "

" Just wanted to say a huge thank you for our circus skills day today. What a fabulous way to end our first week. Pete you were wonderful - you pitched the skills so well for our children. It was fun and educational. We haven’t had an assembly or done whole school  activities for almost 2 years so it was just magical seeing all the children together, laughing, cheering and most of all collectively showing resilience when trying try new things. You reiterated and modelled that it is ok to make mistakes and that’s how we learn. You created an exciting yet safe atmosphere that enabled some of our most vulnerable children to have the courage to take part and stand up in front of the whole school. I’m sure it will be a day that won’t forget. Thank you ever so much "

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you from both the children and the staff at Mount Pleasant. We've had such an amazing time over the last three days with Jay. It's sometimes difficult to find an activity suitable for children from Nursery through to Year 6, but feedback from all over school has been very, very positive. It's actually been difficult for me to get down the corridor in school this week as both children and staff have been stopping me to tell me how much they've enjoyed it! ”

“ I'd  just like to e mail to say what an amazing job your team did over the last few days. The lads were superb and all our staff were so impressed by their enthusiasm and teaching skills. Even our more reluctant students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and made great progress.
Thanks again and we are really looking forward to seeing you again in August, this time with the big top on the field. Please do use me as a reference should you need to on any publicity.”

" We had a fabulous day on Tuesday when Circus Sensible came to our school. All the children from Nursery to Year 6 were catered for and had a great time. The show was hilarious, the children and staff were active participants and even a show for the parents after school too. Will definitely book them again. Thank you very much for a fab day :-) “

“We had Pete come and run 2 sessions for us for 60 students. The students had a fabulous day. They learnt lots of new skills and had fun along the way. Everything was explained thoroughly and then the students were able to go off themselves and have fun. We really enjoyed the whole day and would definitely recommend Team Sensible to anyone looking for a fun group event.”

The Science of Circus

"Complex tasks such as juggling produce significant changes to the structure of the brain, according to scientists at Oxford University.
In the journal, Nature Neuroscience, the scientists say they saw a 5% increase in white matter - the cabling network of the brain." In brief, learning a new skill such as Juggling can hard wire our brains to work better and faster! Circus skills help develop and improve concentration skills. This is particularly evident in those children with shorter attention spans. When we run Circus skills workshops in schools the teachers are often amazed that one or more children who usually have a problem concentrating are doing better than anyone else in the class! Learning Circus skills also offers great benefits in terms of physical co-ordination and physical fitness. Circus workshops fit very well into the school curriculum under PE and co-ordination development. In fact there are many areas where Circus workshops offer great opportunities for curriculum enrichment.

Activities such as Circus skills have been used with great success as an educational tool, as an aid to learning as well as therapeutically with children at risk and with children with special needs. Autistic children have been observed to respond particularly well to Circus skills in schools. Circus skills are an opportunity for children and adults to discover and develop skills such as Concentration, Information retention, Concept visualisation, hand eye co-ordination and self awareness. These skills can then be used in many other settings including social situations and in conventional educational settings whilst learning the core subjects.
